Rick the Dick – 2

Rick made his way to the bar to meet his appointment.  He anticipated the usual one-night stand and learned long ago that he didn’t attract repeat customers.  His clients were usually guests of Bordella members and very often wanted a “quickie.”  Rick’s regulars were all about getting down to business.  At first it was easy to give them what they wanted, he enjoyed it himself. But lately, well lately it was more difficult.  Rick didn’t like be treated as an object.  It was ironic, he felt working, not enjoying, was his penance.  Although, he wasn’t sure how much longer he would be working.  Rick lost his sense of compassion months ago and missed Laurie’s last two seminars.  Recently Laurie called him into her office.  He remembered it vividly. “Rick is everything okay?” she asked him. “Everything is fine.  Why wouldn’t it be?” he countered. “You are getting along with everyone?” Laurie questioned again. “Yes.” Rick clipped. “Okay.  I was just concerned.  I’d heard…” Laurie paused trying to phrase it correctly.  “Heard what?” “Nothing.  It’s nothing.  If you need anything let me know.”  “I don’t,” he turned, “but thanks Laurie.” He knew what she heard.  Laurie found out his infamous nickname “Rick the Dick.”  Originally it started with a couple of clients for obvious reasons.  The epithet kept him booked steady for almost three months.  It was also to blame for his attitude, which recently brought the title back again in a not so flattering form.  As his clientele became almost type-cast, he became further resentful towards his co-workers.  Rick couldn’t say anything.  He couldn’t admit he might not be able to handle the job. Rick was nearing the bar.  His note said blonde at the end of the bar.  As he walked in, Harry, the bartender, nodded over to a corner table with relaxed chairs.  She was sitting looking out the window.  As he approached, Rick took in the classic dress style.  Appearing very chic, holding a wine glass and twirling her index finger around the rim. Composed.  She looked like so many others-snobbish.  She turned her head and smiled, a warm inviting beam.  Her face was full and her eyes matched the night sky outside. Refreshingly Surprising.  “Caroline.”  Rick nearly forgot to breathe. “Rick?” The sparkling eyes turned inquisitive looking him over.

“Yes.  I’m Rick.”  He started to sit down but Caroline rose to meet him shook his hand instead, by grasping it between her own. Rick couldn’t help it and chuckled. He saw humor in the situation.  When had that last happened?  Taking her small hand and lifting it to his lips, Rick noted that it went with a small frame.  She was barely under his chin.  He also noticed as his eyes roved her body along with her face were other round features to be admired.

“I’m sorry.  I’m new to this whole experience.  I should have stayed seated.”  Carline blushed, it spread down her neck and was a lovely shade of pink…. “No need to be sorry.  I’m here to hold your hand.” Rick said and gently lowered her back into the chair.  He took the chair opposite her. Rick looked forward to this evening.

AuThursday – Patti Fisher

Filed under: AuThursday — by Tina Holland @ 1:00 AM

I’m happy to share with you an interview I did with Patti Fisher, my CP and fellow member of RWAOL!

Patti – Thanks for joining me today.  Lets jump right into shall we.

Q:  Would you tell us a little about your new book, A Purrfect Love?

How about if I give you the blurb for the story? It tells it all:

CAT ON A MISSION…..

Molly, a black Persian cat, has a few tricks in mind
when she goes on a mission to bring together a
couple who are just purr-fect for each other.

LADY ON A LEDGE…

Last thing Marisa Hamilton needs is her cat, Molly,
going out onto the window ledge. Dressed in a
skimpy outfit for a Halloween party, Marisa chases
after her cat, only to lose her footing.

HUNK TO THE RESCUE…

New next door neighbor, Ben Singer, comes to
Marisa’s rescue and offers her coffee and a
chance to recover from her ordeal. More than just
coffee sizzles between them. Will their chance
encounter result in A Purrfect Love?

Q:  Why did you decide to write erotic romance?

It’s not in  A Purrfect Love! Most of those who know me shake their head when I tell them there is not any sex in it. LOL. I’ve always loved sensual romance and continue to write it and the only reason I wrote A Purrfect Love was to work myself through writer’s block on a story I’m targeting to Brava. (It worked!) I decided to polish up A Purrfect Love and in June, I submitted it to The Wild Rose Press and got accepted in August. It’s been a whirlwind ever since. :)

Q:  Which Hero is your favorite to date and why?

You know what? My favorite hero that I’ve ever written is one that is not published. Brady. Sigh. he’s a good guy with a heart, with a hint of badness.

Q:  How many WIP’s ( Works In Progress) have you got going?

I’ve completed several…right now I just finished a erotic romantic comedy that takes place in (of all places!) eastern Oregon. Hero is a building contractor who takes on the task of remodeling the kitchen of the widow of his late best friend. He’s always had a thing for her but felt she was offlimits. I had fun writing it.

Right now I’m working on a contemporary paranormal that so far has a gothic feel to it..

Q:  On Average, how long does it take you to write a book?

Depends. I have a day job and other things going on. This last one took me two months to write and is just under 40k words.

Q:  Does a Hero always have to be Good Looking?

I wouldn’t want an ugly hero! However, I like the rugged all male types. The bad boys. The ones so sinfully sexy a woman would melt in his arms. Sometimes it’s not  how they look, but how they ooze the sexual appeal, whether with their voice or their actions.

Q:  How about the Heroine?

Oh, no. I prefer my femaile heroines normal, every day people.

Q:  Where do feel most at home?

I spend most of my time in my family room. My computer is there, my tv and my cats. <g>

Q: Where can readers find you on the World Wide Web?

www.pattifischer.com

Q: Do you have a quote you’d like to share with us?

Sometimes love will find you when you least expect it

Rick the Dick!

Rick the Dick was a story I wrote for Kathryn Falk’s Bordella series back in 2004.  Thought I would share it with you.

RICK THE DICK!  The words leapt off the page at Caroline as she sat and looked at her newest client in the back of a rented stretch Limo.  She read the pages and seriously hoped it was a case of Jealousy and Alpha-male syndrome.  Caroline didn’t normally do this sort of therapy but knew her friend needed help when Laurie called her a few weeks ago. “Caroline, I have a favor to ask you. I’m concerned about one of my employees.” “Laurie I don’t really work in employee relations.” “I know sweetie, it’s a male employee.” “Are you seeing one of your employees?  If you are, I don’t recommend it.” Laurie started laughing on the other end of the phone. “Heavens, No!  Jeanne would have my head on a platter.” “I don’t think I understand then.” Laurie went on to explain about the Women’s Executive Club and how they believed in giving women only the best in Spa treatments, Dining Experiences, Parties for Charity and of course MEN!  She went on to explain how Rick came to be employed at the Club and how over the past few months his client list was declining.  Members of the male staff were referring to him as ‘Rick the Dick’.  Laurie was concerned that Rick’s attitude might extend into the bedroom and was hesitant on recommending him to the clientele. She thought about removing him from the company’s red leather book.  Laurie wanted Rick evaluated to see if he could be brought back to stellar performance before her hand was forced to remove him. “That’s pretty much everything Caroline.  So here’s what I’m thinking-“

“Laurie before you go creating a scenario, which I have to memorize, can I
ask you one question?” Caroline cut her off.
“Sure, honey.”

“Would I have a case file?” Laurie told Caroline about Case Files for all the female clientele, which listed all of the preferences, excluding nothing.  Some went so far as to include special interests and background information.  These files helped prospective companions treat the Club’s patrons accordingly.

Caroline could almost hear Laurie analyzing the question with a pen in her mouth.  “I believe I would make one, because I wouldn’t want an employee blind-sided.”

“Well then here’s what I’m thinking….”

And with that the two colleagues designed a plan for Rick.  Caroline was somewhat uncomfortable.  She’d never done anything like this to analyze a patient. It would be best to act as if it were a date.  Caroline dressed as such wearing her blonde hair down and contacts instead of her glasses.  She went slightly conservative with a black turtleneck, camel suede pants and opted for two-inch heel boots to give her five-foot frame a little more height.

Caroline knew Rick would be standard six-foot or so standard cover model types based on Laurie’s description of The Bordella’s men and their services offered.  She admitted surprise at Laurie going into women’s sexual therapy.  It contrasted with the lady who counseled her through one of the most difficult times in her life.  Perhaps after Laurie’s son was born, counseling children became harder.  Laurie inspired Caroline to go into counseling and she started out counseling married couples right out of school.  She was fascinated by what drew people together, especially what attracted women to the men in their lives.  It prompted her to write “The attraction of the Alpha-Male” which began her occasional free-lance writing career.

Caroline then counseled single-men, shortly after which she wrote “The Alpha-male’s insecurities” and “The Beta-male’s complexities”  Caroline didn’t consider herself an expert of the opposite sex, but sometimes felt she could get past men’s barriers a little easier than most of her gender. The limo stopped.  Caroline stared out the window; the building was beautiful.  She stepped out of the limo in awe of the structure, beyond anything she’d seen in her life.  Caroline was out of her element and questioned whether this was the right thing to do.  She was giving “Rick” a pass/fail grade and his career lay within her hands.  If his career wasn’t in trouble Laurie wouldn’t have called her. Career! Could you even call it that? It was more like a gigolo lifestyle, a very decadent one.  It should be every man’s dream job.  Sleep with a different woman every night.  No-strings attached.  She reached the entrance and the door man let her into one of the most opulent edifice Caroline could imagine.

Last Celtic Witch

I met Lyn at a Romantic Times Convention in 2004 and we have been close friends ever since.  I pestered her mercilessly until she agreed to an interview.  So here it is!

Welcome Lyn!  Tell us a little bit about your new book with Resplendance, The Last Celtic Witch.

Yes, I do have a new book out, THE LAST CELTIC WITCH. It is the first book of the Celtic Series.

Pursued by evil forces for her powers, recluse Adela MacAye foresees her own agonizing death. She must seek the chosen one to produce an heir and pass on her Celtic powers. To fail would be the end of good magick, plunging the world into darkness. Conjuring a fertility spell she is led to a sensual chieftain who is betrothed to the sorceress that hunts her. Time is running out as fate and the future pursue her.

Plagued by enemies and undermined by sabotage, handsome Laird Phillip Roberts must save his clan from a bloody feud with an alliance through marriage … a marriage he does not want.  After a night of white-hot sensual delights with the alluring witch, his heart commands he break the pledge of peace. With treachery around every corner, will he be too late to save … The Last Celtic Witch?Q: How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing since I was a child. Mostly short stories and poems. It wasn’t until I was in my early twenties, that I tried my hand at writing romance novels. I would like to say that was only yesterday, but in fact, it was about 11 years ago.

Q: What advice would you give to writers just starting out?

Join a writers group and find a critique partner. Not only will these people help you learn the craft of writing, but they will support you when times are rough. And believe me, not too many writers can boast of being published without receiving countless rejection letters from publishers. I feel only another writer can understand the heartache of getting rejection after rejection for their manuscript. Even more important is to be persistent. Never give up, no matter what. Being published is a numbers game, the more times you submit, the better your chances of finding a publisher who loves your work.

Q: How did you deal with rejection letters, if you received any?

LOL, I received many. Once I read the rejection letter I would immediately put it in a folder marked “Unworthy Editor.” Which to me just means that editor does not have the same vision as I do. Then I would go back to the drawing board. No matter how much I wanted to crawl into a hole and cry, I remained focus on my goal of being published. The more writing workshops I attended and the more books I wrote, the better I got.

Q: What, in your opinion, are the most important elements of good writing?

Characterization, dialogue, sexual tension and GMC (goals, motivation and conflict) Plus having good grammar is a must. Don’t rely on others to fix your grammar mistakes. Learn the craft. Buy the grammar books, and do the workshops. I know it’s boring, but you’ll be proud of yourself once you know the rules.

Q: What were your feelings when your first historical erotic romance, The Last Celtic Witch was accepted and when you first saw the cover of the finished product?

When Jessica Berry, Editor of Resplendence Publishing, called me to say she wanted to offer me a contract, I thought she was kidding. I was waiting for her say, “Ha, ha. Had you fooled.” LOL. When it finally hit me she was deadly serious, I was ecstatic. I couldn’t wait for her to get off the phone so I could scream the house down. After I was sent the finally book cover for  THE LAST CELTIC WITCH, I was overjoyed. The artist captured the perfect heroine’s face on the cover. When I was writing the heroine’s story, the face on the cover was the exact face I had in mind. It was like the cover artist plucked her out of my mind and put her on the cover. She is so beautiful. And of course, who could resist the hero’s body on the cover as well. The drool factor alone has generated a lot of interest in the cover. In fact, my book cover has placed 4th in the Covey Awards.

Q: Are you working on any books/projects that you would like to share with us? (We’ d love to hear all about them!)

Yes, I am working on the second book in the Celtic Series, THE WITCH AND THE SORCERER. It follows the life of the heroine and her enchanted children from The Last Celtic Witch. The sorcerer is a very bad boy, but so deliciously sexy, you can’t help but lust over him. While a captured witch is the only woman who welds the sexual power to tame the wild beast. My readers will find a big surprise in the second novel. I have pushed the boundaries even further than the first.

Q: Any recent appearances that you would like to share with us about or any upcoming ones?

My next booksigning will be at the Miami Book Fair – Nov 11, 2007. Look for me at Murder on the Beach booth. I will be doing a lot of booksignings around America this year and next. I’m in the process of setting up a calender on my website, www.LynArmstrong.com. Feel free to visit for locations or to sign up on my mailing list.

Q: What is the hottest love scene you have written to date and why?

I love, love, love to write hot sex scenes, so to chose one is really hard. No pun intended. LOL. I love when my characters have sex that is out of the ordinary. Where it shows the reader an insight into their unique character. I feel you can learn a lot about a person by the way they make love. Even a person’s vulnerabilities or lack of inhibitions can come out in a sex scene. There is something to say about a character when she/he loses control to passion, yet still holds something back, an underlining fear. I like my sex scenes to not only be hot as hell, but to show a different side to the characters that a reader may not see otherwise.

Q: What are the best reveiws to-date-so-far on your book?

I have had the best reviews on THE LAST CELTIC WITCH, receiving 41/2 stars on my book. This goes beyond my expectations.

Read what the reviews have to say:

The manipulation and intrigues found throughout the story kept me reading to see how things would turn out in the end. I found myself happily caught up in the exciting action of the story. This is a mesmerizing tale in which dark magic uses intrigue and manipulation to succeed in the battle between good versus evil. Their only hope is that the power of love will give courage and strengthen the power of one small woman …THE LAST CELTIC WITCH.

4 1/2 Star, Anita, Romance Junkies Reviewer

The Last Celtic Witch is a story rich in history, and imagination. I could literally feel what it must have been like to live in times whenbeing different could cost you your life. The villain of this piece is so well drawn that you catch your breath in terror of what she is going to do next. Adela as the woman alone who is desperate to find love and in so doing continue her family line is exceptional. Phillip is honorable, but he is not perfect, and I liked how Ms. Armstrong gave him suitable flaws. The Last Celtic Witch is a keeper and not one you will want to miss!

4 Stars, Regina, Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance

This novella weaves classic elements of love, loyalty, duty and good vs. evil into a compelling tale. The drama of two competing witches heightens the suspense. The setting of historical Scotland is appealing. The sensual elements of this story are strong and varied, including same-sex and threesome scenes.

Q:  How hard is it to keep love scenes fresh and interesting?

As an erotic author, it is very hard to keep the scenes fresh and original. You can’t use the same phrases or certain sexual positions as you did in the last novel. But somehow, it all comes together. My fantasy life is very active, and the characters seem to have a life of their own, I just type their story

Saturday Sexcerpt

Since we interviewed Celine on AuThursday here is a teaser from her, Help I’m Falling for the Vampire Next Door:

Short synopsis: Valentine Drakul longs for a mate, someone to share eternity with who won’t be totally grossed out living on a diet of steak tartare. Could the sexy girl living upstairs fulfill his every fantasy?

Melynda Kerpanik got the heck out of Dodge, Kansas, and ended up in St. Louis working for her cousin as an interior decorator. But will her career plans take a backseat to her curiosity about things that “go bump in the night”?

A deadly foe ensnares Mel in his evil plot to rid the world of the Kindred race… Can Val save the mortal woman he loves without transforming her into the eternally lonely being he’s become?

Scene set-up: Mel returns from a dinner with the villainous Leo Van Helsing…

“Where in the world have you been? I’ve been looking for you everywhere.”

Val stomped out of the dark, moonless shadows, grabbing Mel by the elbow as she approached the warehouse’s front door at half past eleven. “And what were you doing all this time riding in a limo?”

“Jealous?” Mel giggled. “It was nothing. Nothing at all. Shelby wanted me to schmooze with some bigwig client so he’d buy into the building. I think he will, too. Shel is going to be sooo pleased with me.”

Val’s nostrils flared. What was that stinking cologne she had on? It smelled like a man’s aftershave–an expensive, yet tawdry, man’s aftershave.
Mel reached into her purse and dropped her key then fumbled with the front door lock. “Oops! I think I’ve had too much to drink.”

“It appears so.” He picked up the key along with a matchbook that had fallen beside it. He gave a long whistle. “Whoa. That must have been some major player you had dinner with. You actually ate at the Adam’s Mark Hotel?”

“Well, yeah. He’s staying there for now.”

“Did you give him dessert upstairs afterward?”

She frowned. “Just what are you implying? Oh, that I… No, no. He was a gentleman. A very handsome, very rich and well-connected gentleman. There was no hanky-panky whatsoever. I think.”

“You think?”

The fires within him roared. Val grimaced and clenched his fists at his sides. Another had staked claim to one of his own. That man must die and die horribly. Instinctively his canines grew, forcing him to turn back into the shadows.

“Val, your face!” She gasped. “I’m not all that intoxicated. What’s wrong? You look like you’re experiencing a sudden toothache. Are you all right?”

“I’m fine. It’s my wisdom teeth. They give me trouble.”

Mel approached him and cradled him tenderly into her arms, patting his back.
“Poor baby. I bet they hurt awful. I noticed the gum swelling the other night after we… made love. You really ought to see a dentist.”

“How many dentists do you know offer late night hours?”

“Not many. You poor, poor dear.”

She began to kiss his chin and face over and over again, stroking his shoulders and pecs, pressing her warm, womanly curves tight against his muscular frame. Val sighed and relaxed, pulling her deeper into the shadows with him. Leaning against the brick building brought back memories of other secret lovers’ rendezvous long ago on deserted streets and in back alleys. His cock grew hard, throbbing at the thrill of getting caught in the act.

“Hmm, Melynda, have you ever…?”

“Ever?” She paused her assault on his senses and smiled. “Have I ever done it under the moonlight in some back alleyway, you mean?”

“Exactly.” He lowered one dress strap and then another, lowering his lips to each nipple, licking it to full attention. “No one will see us here and the nearest occupied house is a block over.”

She chuckled. “I promise not to shout too loudly if you won’t.”

“No promise.”

Val squeezed her buttocks, rubbing the bulge in his pants against her pussy covered only by the thinnest of cloth. She threw back her head, and a low moan escaped her lithe, lovely throat. He fought off the urge to sink his fangs into the smooth, white flesh and partake of the life-giving liquid contained within.

Mel would give of herself in a human manner, the manner he had always desired to enjoy without corrupting it with his people’s ancient curse. He had vowed to act human, or at least as close an approximation to humanity as he could attain.

He pushed up her skirt and pulled her thong down, greedily fondling her clit. She was hot and wet and ready for the taking. As if reading his mind, she undid his jeans zipper and yanked his pants all the way down to his ankles.

“Hmm, I didn’t have any dessert tonight, by the way.” Mel knelt and nibbled his stiffening cock through the silky material of his boxers before removing the barrier and tantalizing the red, engorged head with her tongue. “Delicious.”
He groaned. The cool brick on his backside and the hot breath of his lover on his cock drove him to distraction. If he wasn’t careful, the neighbors would hear them. “I know someone else who’s finger-lickin’ good.”

Val pulled Mel to her feet, simultaneously plunging a tongue into her mouth and a digit deep into her eager pussy. She squealed in delight. He backed her up against the first step of the stoop and laid her down, continuing his assault on her cunt. As their kiss deepened she wrapped her legs about him and speared herself on his erection, drawing it deep within her.

He lifted her up as easily as she were a phantom without substance and took her deeper into the shadows, pinning her against the cool brick wall with his hot cock, madly ramming it harder and harder into her tight passage. His mind went blank and his canines extended. He lightly raked them against the tender flesh of shoulders, drinking in the perfume of her blood. He teetered close to the edge of insanity.

Mel sighed. “Oh, Val, you know exactly how I like it… Fast and hard. And that is the most wonderful sensation on my neck. Bite me, will you?”

His head instantly cleared. “What did you say?”

“I said give me a hickey. It won’t show if I wear a turtleneck for the next week or so. You’re driving me crazy with your nibbling. I’m about to… I will if you…”

“Melynda, I can’t bite you. If I did, I’d…” He couldn’t say the words I wouldn’t stop until I had drained you of all your blood.

“Hmm, that’s okay. Just gum me a little harder.”

Drink, drink! She’s offering herself to you, a willing victim.

AuThursday – Celine Chatillon

In honor of our  Of Flesh and Blood Release next Monday October 8th.  I’ve resurrected an interview I did with Celine shortly after Help I’m Falling for the Vampire Next Door was released.  Here you go:

Q: How long have you been writing?

Forever and a day! At least it seems that way. I wrote my first “book” when I was about five years old. Actually, my mother took dictation and I illustrated it. It was about talking salt and pepper shakers that came to life at night and had wild parties with other condiments on the dinner table. Hmm… It’s still a cute idea. I wish I knew where that manuscript was now!

Q: Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?

I suffer from “writer’s panic” more than block. I can always write something, but I can’t always write what I want to sometimes and it’s frustrating. I just get too tired, too stressed or whatever. Only time and a swift kick in the pants to make myself sit back down at the keyboard helps. The best thing is to do what you do when you fall off your bicycle—you get back on and start pedaling again. Eventually the phase will pass.

Q: What were your feelings when your first novel was accepted/when you first saw the cover of the finished product?

I was thrilled when my first novel was accepted, but a little sad that I didn’t get official confirmation until a month or so after my father’s death. He would have loved to know that I sold my novel.

The cover of the finished product… well, let’s not go there. Let’s say it left a lot to be desired in both design and execution. (I’m revising and republishing the story again very soon. Hopefully it will have a better cover this time out.)

I just really thrilled to have such a wonderful cover for Help! I’m Falling for the Vampire Next Door . Liquid Silver puts out some awesome cover artwork, don’t they?

Q: What do you do to unwind and relax?

I read or write some more. (Silly but true.) I also sing with a championship women’s barbershop chorus. I’m not sure how “unwinding” the singing is lately, as we’re rehearsing for a big show and then we’re off to international competition in just a little over a month’s time. Wish us luck! (http://www.riverblenders.org)

Q: Are you working on any books/projects that you would like to share with us? (We’ d love to hear all about them!)

Yes, I’m cooking up several new things for Liquid Silver Books… I’ve finished the first draft to the sequel to Help! I’m Falling for the Vampire Next Door and I hope to get it revised and ready to go here in the next month or so. It’s Shelby’s story (Melynda’s cousin) and this time the hero is a time traveler. (Melynda’s boyfriend Val is a vampire.) I’m calling this paranormal erotic-romance series “The Paranormal Lovers of St. Louis” since it’s set in the city I currently reside, St. Louis. For book three in the series I’m thinking of an invisible alien as the hero… I can see all kinds of humorous and sexy adventures possible there.

I’m also signed up to write another vampire story for an anthology tentatively entitled, Of Flesh and Blood. I thought I’d write a story about Val’s uncle, Vladimir, and how he first encounters Leo Van Helsing, the psycho-villain of Help! I’m Falling for the Vampire Next Door. I enjoyed creating these two characters immensely, so I’m looking forward to bringing them together again in an action-packed thriller of love and betrayal.

Q: Do you have a favorite hero in all your books? For any particular reason?

Ooo… that’s a toughie. I love them all in their own special ways. I really have a thing right now for Quentin, the hero of my upcoming time traveler novel. (Tentative title: Hey, I’m Hanging with a Time Surfer) Quentin is very wild and very free and helps Shelby our heroine to “loosen up” a bit as they jump around space and time. I really wish time travel was possible now so Quentin could take me on a few “trips” as well!

Works in Progress – Riding Wes to Vegas

Below is an un-edited excerpt from one of my upcoming projects

Brittany Combes got out of bed, her planets were aligned, and she could feel it in the core of her being.  Something significant was going to happen today.  She padded across the floor of her efficiency apartment to her kitchen.  Brittany started the coffee pot and walked the short distance to her front door.  She opened it to find that Timmy, her neighbor left his newspaper once again on the welcome mat outside her apartment.  He was nice but much too young for her blood.  Brittany checked the stars the day she met him and found that they were meant to be lifelong friends, nothing more.

Brittany treaded back to the counter, poured a cup of coffee and sat down at the table to read her horoscope.  For the most part she felt that paper horoscopes were generic, to appeal to the masses.  She felt once you studied a person as a whole and where they were in their lives, then look at the stars to find the answers.  Her astrology hobby managed to get her a weekly gig at the Starving Artist, matching people up according to their sign.  Her friend Courtney thought the idea would help the coffee house make some extra money on Monday nights.  They called in Matchmaking Monday.

Brittany leafed through the paper until she reached the horoscope section and scanned for her sign, Pisces.   She read:

Pisces:  The stars are aligned for a winning combination.  You are at the top of your game.  Thinking too much is not for today,  go with your feelings not logic.   Cancer brings unexpected changes.  Tonight:  A dark beauty will enter your life.

A dark beauty, could refer to her friend Courtney Wagner, she was a Cancer and due any day.  Why that would affect her, Brittany wondered.  Perhaps the baby would arrive tonight and  the child would likely be dark like her mother.  Brittany decided it was worth a call to check on Courtney.  She picked up the phone and dialed the number she knew by heart.

“Starving Artist, this is Daisy.”

“Is Courtney there?”

“One moment.” Brittany heard footsteps and muffled background noises.

“This is Courtney.”

“Courtney, it’s Britt.”

“Yeah Britt, what’s up?”

“I was calling to see how things were going.”

“Fine.  Why do you ask?”

“I just wanted to make sure everything was okay.”  Brittany decided not to tell Courtney about her horoscope.  It would probably cause her to worry unnecessarily.

“Everything is good.  My accountant is coming to look over the books.  That’s pretty much the highlight of my day.  You’re still coming tonight?”

“Of Course.  I wouldn’t miss it.”

“See you then.”

“Yep.”  After hanging up the phone Brittany wondered what her horoscope meant.  She didn’t have time to go through her charts, she was already late for class.  She was starting to wonder who this dark beauty was though.

Do you have a project you would like to share?  Please let me know.

Thanks,

Tina
