Saturday Sexcerpt – Temporarily Insane by Vicki Batman
“Detective Allan Wellborn is a childhood friend of Hattie Cooks, but somehow, they can’t get together until…”~Vicki Batman
“I’m sorry. I-I…”
Resting my hands on his shoulders, I murmured against his mouth, “There’s nothing to be sorry for. You’re such a man.”
And his arms embraced me with a longing I’d wanted for many months.
His hands slipped under the hem of my athletic top. The shirt flipped over my head, dropping to the floor. His palm covered my breast, molding and manipulating the flesh.
“OhmyGod.” My head crooked to one side while his lips buzzed light kisses to my ear. My hands skated past his waistband and his underwear, grasping his bare firm bottom.
Abruptly, we stopped groping, grabbing, and kissing. We took a long solid look at each other. I wanted him no matter what and read the same
intent firing in his eyes. Seizing his hand, I yanked him into my bedroom and slammed the door shut.
We enveloped each other.
His forehead met mine. “God, Hattie, I can’t stop. I’ve wanted you for so long, ever since I can remember.”
My lips found the soft spot below his ear. I inhaled the light trace of scent which spelled all man. “I know.” My body screamed in delight as his male part nudged my female part. My mouth pulsed. Removing his shorts became my goal.

AuThursday – Vicki Batman
Please welcome Vicki Batman, sassy writer of sexy and funny fiction, to the Clog Blog. Vicki, tell us a little about yourself and your background?
I am the oldest of four girls and was raised in the suburbs. I have always been an avid reader. I love kitties. I married Handsome and have two sons and a daughter.
What are you working on at the minute?
I’m working on Temporarily Out of Luck and it is driving me crazy! But I made a few changes and am adding some stuff; so it should come along after a while. And another holiday story. And a super secret project.
What genre are your books?
Romantic comedy and mystery
Have you written any other novels in collaboration with other writers?
Sorta. I’ve been in three-holiday anthologies, the third releases November, 1 and is entitled Season of Promises. I’ve had an essay in the Sisters Born, Sisters Found anthology which celebrates sisterhood of all kinds, and a story in Lavender Dreams, an anthology about how cancer touches lives.
Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just to see where an idea takes you?
I am a pantser. I DO have the hook, the black moment, and the end, but lots of stuff has to happen in the middle to make the book. Sigh, that’s the hard part.
Do you ever get writer’s Block?
I call it writer stuck. Like I explained in Temporarily Out of Luck, something was not working. I went over and over and thought it was the time line. Moved something and bingo! Was able to add bits and get the story moving again. I won’t be satisfied for a long while.
I see you’ve started a TEMPORARILY Series with Wild Rose Press, what are your thoughts on writing a book series?
It can be difficult to keep all the characters straight. I don’t want the second book to rehash the first book. And when I wrote Temporarily Employed, bits for Temporarily Insane began revealing itself. It’s fun and I love my characters.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Write! Wright Tight! And take the criticism. Keep what you need and toss the rest. Don’t let anyone define you and your work, but you. Don’t live in fear. As the heroine in “Strictly Ballroom” says, a life lived in fear is a life half-lived. Live your life adventure.

Saturday Excerpt – Immortal Relations by GD Ogan
“Here is the part of Immortal Relations, http://amazon.com/dp/B006ZCBT6G where Gary Logan has met the beautiful if unusual lady who tells him about his father’s time in Prague:”~GD Ogan
I was weighing the odds of meeting someone whose great aunt had known my father, and it seemed an unbelievable coincidence. “Do you feel all right?” she asked.
“Not really.” I said adding, “I can’t get over our meeting, but even more improbably that your great aunt knew my father!”
“Oh, not just my great aunt” she said “My whole family knew him; he was very helpful to them in recovering their lives after the war.”
Magdalena said her great aunt spoke English, could read and write it, as well, because her father had been a Czech diplomat in England before the war, and her great aunt had gone to school there. Her father had been recalled when he voiced alarm over the pacifist actions of England’s Prime Minister at the time, who thought he could make deals with Adolph Hitler. “Of course,” Magdalena continued, “history proved Hitler lied on paper about ‘peace in our times’ and then, when the Nazi’s rolled into Czechoslovakia, my great aunt’s father was arrested and shot. His wife escaped to her parent’s farm with my great aunt, who was just in her teens. Then Winston Churchill became England’s Prime Minister and when America came into the war, the Nazis were defeated! Later, my great aunt went to work for the new Czech government as an interpreter, working with some American’s who came to help. Your father was one, and it wasn’t long before he captured her heart and she his!”
Unfortunately for my great aunt, her lover was married and, as much as he cared for her, he was too committed to his wife and young son, as well as to his agency.”
I noticed her voice broke toward the end of her comment, so I knew she deeply felt the heartbreak of that lost love. She went on to say, “When the new communist government expelled the American’s, my great aunt wrote her promise to always be waiting on the back of this picture of your father.”
AuThursday -GD Ogan
Please welcome back Guy (GD) Ogan to the Clog Blog. GD – How long have you been writing?
Well, of course, there is all the “writing” required by schools and while in the military. But I feel sure you’re talking about fictional and non-fictional books and articles. My expressing things using the written word probably started when I was running long distance, cross-country events in high school and college while living in Northern California. There were a few magazines dedicated to running sports that published some of my submissions about the races I ran. One was “The Long Distance Log” where I described the trials and tribulations (tongue-in-cheek) of the dusty and sometimes dangerous courses the race promoters provided for us. Much later many of my photographs and stories were published in “Cruisin’ Style” a car magazine. I also had a book published while at Hardin-Simmons University titled, “Can Anyone Help My Child” about diagnosing and finding various treatments for Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).
Q: To date which of your books was the hardest to write and why?
A: I’ve always had a very fertile imagination. Perhaps that is one reason that “story telling” has come easily for me. I never felt that any of the series was difficult to write. Maybe I’ll answer by saying not writing the forth book in the series yet, because I wanted to wait until I had more readership, has been the hardest. My characters always press me to continue writing their story.
Q: How did you come up with the idea for your IMMORTAL RELATIONS series?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
A: After my mother passed away, five years after my father did, I finally felt that I had to clean out my father’s file cabinets. My father had worked for the Federal Government with industrial, heavy duty, seven and eight drawer security file cabinets. By the time I was through, over fifty of the largest 55-gallon trash bags were filled to overflowing. In the oldest cabinet, in the back of the bottom drawer, I found a very old and yellowing envelope I thought was empty. But when I picked it up to throw it in the trash it felt heavier on one end. When I ripped it open an old black and white photograph fell out. The photograph was of my late father as a young man in his late twenties or early thirties standing in front of an extremely old building with a clock face on it. On the back, in a very feminine hand was written: “I’ll always be waiting here.” Finding that message on the back of that photograph is what started me writing, “Immortal Relations.” It confirmed what my late mother said about my father when I was a very young child…that I didn’t understand at my early age. A copy of the photograph is shown on page two of the first book in the series. I’ll use an excerpt below (Saturday)to give a hint of my mother’s concerns.
Q: When you are writing, who is in control, you or your characters?
A: Unquestionably the characters are in charge although they are kind enough to allow me to discuss “options” with them. However, I’ve tried to no avail to reduce some of what I call the “explicit togetherness” (sex) they are routinely involved in.
Q: You’ve set some of your stories in foreign lands, which country would you most like to visit and why?
A: The Czech Republic would be my first choice to visit. When I was in the military I’d visited England, Japan and even the (then) British Crown Colony of Hong Kong and what was called “The New Territory” (the latter two are both now part of Communist China). Off limits, to me, while I was in the service was Czechoslovakia as, at that time, it was controlled by the (then) Soviet Union. I’d also like to visit The Russian Federation since much of the action in my books take place there.
Q: What are you doing to promote your book?
A: Aside from being on blogs provided by friendly authors, I’ve been part of muli-author book signings at libraries and other venues throughout West Texas and had my novels on consignment at our local Hasting’s Books and Entertainment Store (Hasting’s is sadly now out of business).
Q: What books can we expect to see in the near future?
A: Book four in the series is ready to be typed up as soon as I get more readers. I have the cover ready for it as well as books five and six and my characters are chomping at the bit. In June I had a marvelous and funny comment left by Pat G. that she had read all three of the current series out of sequence and she attested that they were “stand alone.” She said it was the top vampire story she’d read and among the best in sci-fi (the third book has a sci-fi component).
Here is Pat’s comment
5 Stars The best vampire novel I ever read. By Pat G. June 16, 2016, Format: Paperback This novel rates number one in vampire writings, and close to the top in science fiction. Ogan is an excellent writer. There is an occasional misspelled word, but it does not detract from the quality of the book. Ogan shows a deep knowledge of warfare and weapons perhaps from his service as a major in the USAF. The killing of others is handled very well and realistically. It is heavy on sexual content but again done well. I shared the book with a friend who came back to me and said, “I think this writer has overdosed on Viagra.” I laughed. I also liked the writing in (the) first person since it showed each person’s involvement and participation in the main theme of bringing the story to the front. It is not necessary to read the books in order unless you are one of those people who prefer it that way. The books stand alone. I read the second, the first, and the third. Loved all three and look forward to number four. It depicts vampires as friends of humans rather than monsters. It also shows a great love for animals.
Q: Is there a question you would like to answer but it wasn’t asked?
A: I hadn’t thought about it, but perhaps “Are any of your characters based upon real people?” The answer is yes, Gary Logan is based upon my own years of military training, knowledge, and experience. There are others, especially in book three, but that is for the readers to determine.
Q: Where can readers find you on the World Wide Web?
A: A lot more information about the books can be found at http://immortalrelations.blogspot.com and I do have Facebook and Twitter accounts (but I don’t look at them all that often).
Please join me on Saturday when we read and excerpt from GD’s book Immortal Relations.

Saturday Sexcerpt – Sweet Cowboy Kisses by Stephanie Berget
“This is an excerpt from Sweet Cowboy Kisses, my story in Cowboys, Bulls & Buckles.”~Stephanie Berget
As Cody walked away, Kade looked down at the crumbled paper and tried to smooth it out.
Pansy took it from him and smoothed it on the stadium seats. “Here.”
He folded the day sheet one more time and stuck it in his shirt pocket. Taking Pansy’s hand, he sat then pulled her onto his lap. “Look, he’s just joking. You know, about finding all the women.”
The small jolt of jealousy was gone before she had time to resist it. Kade wasn’t a monk. That thought made her grin.
She’d even had a few flings since she’d left Montana, not that they’d lasted long or meant anything. “You always did have a knack for getting the girls to follow you around.”
“But I didn’t act on it when I was with you.”
The warmth of Kade’s arms around her and the look in his stormy gray eyes was like a welcome home party. “You never did, but I know you didn’t spend all those years apart pining for me. You had your life and I had mine.” Not that hers had been so great, but he didn’t need to know that.
He raised his hands and cupped her cheeks. “Pansy, there was never anyone but you.” His lips touched hers and the feeling of rightness overwhelmed her. All these years, she’d thought she’d been living. Now she knew she’d merely been surviving.
Pansy gave herself up to the feelings flooding her brain. This was not good, she knew heartache was in her future, but she hadn’t been so complete since Kade left.
She ran her fingertips up the back of his neck and tangled them in his hair like she used to, scraping her nails softly over his skin. Kade’s groan set her heart to racing.
When she got back to East Hope, this kind of behavior would have to stop, but for once, she was going to throw caution to the wind and hope the wind didn’t whip it back into her face.
Kade deepened the kiss. His hands roamed up and down her back as she pressed into him.
She heard a snicker and became aware of more people climbing the stands, searching for the best seat. Pansy put her hands on Kade’s wrists and moved his hands off her face.
“Let’s go somewhere else.” His voice was hoarse, his eyes dilated, probably much like her own.
She gave herself a quick lecture on propriety; she was her father’s daughter after all. Standing, she pulled away from his warmth. “You brought me to see your friend’s bulls. And watching bulls is what we’re going to do.”

AuThursday – Stephanie Berget
Please welcome Stephanie Berget to the Clog Blog. Stephanie, can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?
Hi, everyone. I live on a farm in a small town in eastern Oregon. My husband and I have rodeoed most of our lives and have trained rodeo horses for over forty years. I was born a city girl but have loved horses since I watched My Friend Flicka as a young girl. It was a natural transition to writing about hot cowboys and romance.
What are you working on at the minute?
I’m working on the sequel to my second book, Radio Rose. Love and Other Useless Things is about a twin trying to find her own identity and a saddle bronc rider who’s just lost his lifelong dream.
Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?
I write best in the morning. That said, social media is my procrastination of choice. On a good day, I get up and drink my fill of caffeine then get to work. I don’t have a set number of words, but I try to set a time limit and write until an alarm goes off.
Do you ever get Writer’s Block?
Writer’s block has reared its ugly head for the first time lately, but I fear it’s being fed by procrastination. I need a keeper for sure.
Have you written any other novels in collaboration with other writers?
I participated my first boxed set, Cowboys, Bulls & Buckles, this last summer. My story, Sweet Cowboy Kisses, is one of six stories about professional bull riders. I’ve had a fabulous time working with the other great writers in the set and plan to do another collaboration after the first of the year.
Why did you do decide to collaborate and did that affect your sales?
When I was invited by a friend to be involved in this anthology, I jumped at the chance. I was impressed with the other participating authors, and it’s been great having other writers share the task of promotion.
Cowboys, Bulls & Buckles has done really well. We topped Amazon’s Hot New Release list for almost two weeks and weren’t out of the top ten the whole time the set was on the list. Cowboys, Bulls & Buckles has also consistently been in the top ten of Contemporary Western Romance on Amazon. We are all thrilled with the response.
You seem to have ventured into Indie publishing, what would you say are the main advantages and disadvantages of Indie publishing vs. traditionally published or the other way around?
My first book, Sugarwater Ranch was published by Evernight Publishing. It was a great experience, but for my subsequent books, I decided I wanted to try going the Indie route. It’s more work and stress doing it all by myself, but I like the control and being able to put one of my books on sale when I want.
What is your favorite book and why?
What a tough question. There are so many. If I had to choose one, it would be Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. No wait, Faking It by Jennifer Crusie…or Dream A Little Dream by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Okay, I’ll stop. ☺
