Saturday Sexcerpt – Not the Hot Chick by Nona Raines

Danger even hotter“This is from my New Adult serial romance Not the Hot Chick:”~Nona Raines

No one would call curvy Layla Messner hot. Sweet and smart, yes, but not hot. All that changes when she meets sexy bartender Cam.  This bundle contains all four of parts of the Not the Hot Chick serial featuring a BBW heroine with heart and a hero with plenty of substance beneath his seductive style. Contains hot hook-ups, bitchy neighbors, ice skating blunders and—just possibly—love to last a lifetime.

This boxed set contains the complete Not the Hot Chick series.perf5.000x8.000.indd

Excerpt:

Since Cam had to work in a few hours, they decided to go to the Shamrock. Because it was still early on a week night, they had no trouble finding a table. “What would you like?” he asked as Layla took her seat.

Just as she was about to ask for a beer, she remembered her plan to seduce him. What had Jessi ordered the night they came here? Oh, right. “I’d like a Hard Fast Screw.” Layla looked him straight in the eye and hoped she wasn’t blushing as she ordered the bar’s version of a screwdriver.

A light glinted in his hazel eyes and he pressed his lips together as though trying not to smile. “Coming right up.”

Layla let go a sigh as he headed to the bar for their drinks. Channeling Jessi seemed to do the trick. Tonight, Layla decided, her mantra would be WWJD: What Would Jessi Do?

Cam returned to the table with her cocktail and his bottle of beer. “Cheers.” He clinked the mouth of his bottle to the rim of her glass and they both drank. The tangy juice slid easily down Layla’s throat. She couldn’t taste the vodka but felt its kick as it landed in her stomach. Warmth pooled in her middle and spiraled through her.

She admired him as she sipped her drink. The separate parts of his face—his square jaw, his strong chin with a hint of a cleft, his straight nose—all came together beautifully. Add to that his dark, wavy hair and a pair of greenish-brown eyes flecked with gold and he was a perfect work of art. And when he smiled… God. It was enough to make any girl drop her panties.

Fear fluttered through her. Was she crazy, thinking she could get with him a second time? He had his pick of women. Just looking around the bar, Layla spotted two or three cute, hot girls who were much more his type than she was. She felt a sudden urge to slug back the rest of her drink and bounce before she made a complete idiot of herself.

No, you’re not going to run. You have to try. The worst he can do is say no.

AuThursday- Nona Raines

Please welcome my fellow NGWN (Nice Girls Writing Naughty) Nona Raines to the Clog Blog.

Hi, Tina. Thanks for having me today.

Tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I’m a former librarian who still loves books and reading. Visiting libraries is one of my favorite things to do! I’ve been writing for many years, but for the longest time found it difficult to finish anything, I think that came from a lack of self-confidence and fear of putting my work “out there.” When I finally decided I must get serious, I joined a nearby RWA chapter (Central New York RWA for the win!) and finally finished a book. It was ONE GOOD MAN, my first published romance.

Have you written any other novels in collaboration with other writers?

No, I haven’t, but a writer friend and I toy with the idea. She used to be a truck driver and knows all about the business. I told her it would be cool for us to write a romance–or maybe a whole series–feature women truckers!

I see you’ve written series including, NOT THE HOT CHICK, THE MAN SERIES, and THE SPECTRUM SERIES.   What do you like about writing Series for your readers?

Sometimes I think I write my series more for myself than for my readers. J I tend to love in love with my characters and want to continue their stories. Sometimes a supporting character calls out to me demanding his or her own story be told, LOL, and I just can’t resist. I hope my readers like my characters, too, and enjoy going along for the ride.

What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?

It’s a challenge for me to “think like a man” and convey that through dialogue. I want my heroes to be masculine without being overly macho or sounding like they’re women in men’s bodies.

How many hours a day do you write?

I try to write three to four hours a day. I’m a slow writer, so, unfortunately, that doesn’t produce as many pages as I wish it did.

What is your writer Kryptonite?

Mine is getting going in the morning when I’m at my best and not let little things distract me to let me fritter away the day.

Do you believe in writer’s block?

I believe it exists for some people, but I’ve been lucky (knock on wood) that it hasn’t affected me yet. Some days are harder than others and feel like I’m squeezing blood from a stone, but so far I haven’t experienced anything that might be a block.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

Keep writing! And keep learning. Read blogs by other writers, take classes (online or otherwise), read books on craft, and if you can, join a writer’s group. My local RWA chapter was invaluable to me.

Saturday Sexcerpt – Love in the Boondocks by Adam Mann

love-in-the-boondocksWe said goodnight, but about half an hour later I felt Mary climbing into the other side of the larger bed with me in it!

She had to touch me as the bed was too small not to, and I noticed the soft fabric of her nightgown as she snuggled up to me, and put her arms around me.

I turned to face her, and she kissed my chin.  She smelt very feminine, without using any discernible perfume.

I put my arm on her waist, and then up to her back.

I was a bit startled as the back of her bra felt like canvas webbing through the soft nightie, but she snuggled up to me again without saying a word.

I moved my hand down her back to her bottom and found another canvas garment there, which was like a pair of knickers made from thick denim material.

“That’s my chastity belt,” she whispered, “Go to sleep,” she commanded.

“The trouble is that you’ve woken up Percy,” I complained.

“Percy?” she was startled, and I could sense her looking at me in the darkness.

I laughed.

“The one-eyed monster,” and now she laughed, and reached down between us to feel Percy.

AuThursday – Adam Mann

Adam 200Please welcome Adam Mann back to the Clog Blog. Welcome Adam,  Thank you, I’m delighted to be here. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I’ve worked in what is called developing economies most of my working life, and usually in remote areas with limited facilities.  I’ve now retired and find myself working even harder – no days off – as a writer.

What are you working on at the minute?

I’m just completing my first Box Set – 4 or 5 short stories.  I pitch most of my stories in places where I’ve worked, but that can be a problem for a lot of readers.

What draws you to write in the romance genre?

Quite frankly from my own personal experience.  I have been married four times – widowed, divorced, marriage annulled as she had forgotten to get divorced, and finally happily married to a widow for the last nineteen years

How much research do you do?

Quite a lot; a recent story took me to an area of Pakistan where the landowners are largely Parsee, and I managed to collect a lot of data about the origin of the Zoroastrians.

Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just to see where an idea takes you?

I usually start with a specific plot, but often the story ‘wanders’ off-line and I have to review the MS.  Most of the time I get ideas for plots very early in the morning, and if I wait I’ll have forgotten the plot when I get up in the morning!  So I write myself a note, even if it’s midnight.

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

Usually a week or ten days after I’ve thought about the plot, but then I spend the next three weeks editing and reviewing the MS, and it may be some time before in publish it.

Do you ever get writer’s Block?

No, not really, I’ve a lot of stories to tell.  I find that I can always write about something.

What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

Put your head down and write, and worry about grammar, editing, and proofreading later.  Book promotion is a much greater problem!

Where can readers find you on the World Wide Web?

Mainly through Twitter.  I’ve considered buying in readers, but it’s expensive and I haven’t done that yet.
